Richard Creech I
He was listed as a passenger on the ship The Transport that departed London for Virginia on July 4, 1635. His family settled in the "Maine" area of Virginia north of Surrey County and the Isle of Wight. Richard, his wife Frances, and their infant daughter were killed during a series of Indian raids along the James River that eventually claimed the lives of almost 400 colonists. Their two sons (Henry and Nicholas) were away from their home at the time of the raid and survived. They were raised by John Beale, Sr., Frances' brother. There is some evidence of Nicholas in later years but very little.

This history shows that Richard originated from Fifeshire, Scotland, but this is currently under dispute since there are also those that think the origins should be placed in England. Once the exact origin is discovered this site will reflect the change.
